Hello everyone,
I needed a light mode of transportation for a 7-mile radius. Because I don’t live in the best neighborhood (stealing mopeds and e-bikes is common), I wanted something that I could carry inside. I picked a skateboard over a scooter because skates are more compact for storage and also more fun to ride.
I picked the Explorer because of the longer bamboo deck (stability and flexibility), longer range and higher speed, and also pneumatic tires. I bought the Molicel version with only the pneumatic tires. But I did upgrade it upon purchase with 175 mm, quick-release, aluminium wheels. It arrived on time and was very well packaged.
Having never skateboarded before, I started slow and managed to increase speed and acceleration gradually. The app is very handy, esp. for beginners, because it allows you to adjust acceleration, speed and deceleration of all 4 gears within a certain range. here are the ranges
gear 1: 15->25 kph
gear 2: 25->35
gear 3: 35->45
gear 4: 45->62
This board gives you a smooth ride, Thanks to the flexible board, large pneumatic wheels, and powerful motors. You can go on rougher terrains and go through potholes that other skateboards or even scooters with 8” wheels can’t (because they only have 2 wheels, they lack the stability). At short distances (4-5 miles), I would say it’s almost as fast as a car both because of the flexibility you have as to where you ride it (on the road and/or sidewalk) and also, you start riding the board right at the door and don’t have to walk to your car.
However, just like any other pneumatic wheel skateboard, it will wobble at high speeds. So if you plan to go fast, definitely get a helmet and wrist guards. I got a motorcycle helmet that was definitely useful when I fell at 40kph/25mph. I had the helmet and wrist guards, so nothing broke. just road rash. If you don’t want road rash either when falling (which is a lot of hassle to take care of), you can get a light motorcycle jacket with padding. I had my right foot forward when riding at the time and I got rashes on my right arm and part of my skin completely rubbed off on my right shoulder, elbow and knee.
Also, understand that with longer range and deck, comes weight. And this board is definitely heavy. So, if you are mostly commuting short distances on well-paved roads or have to climb up and down multiple stories, go for something lighter. I’m (186cm/6’1”), (84kg/190lbs) and fairly muscular, but I still feel the weight, not just because of the weight itself, but because of the long deck, which means you have to hold it at an awkward angle. esp. one-handed. Even dragging it behind you is not a pleasant experience because you are not only spinning the back wheels but also the motors that are attached to them via belts. But when you’re riding it, it’s awesome.
I’m (84kg/190lbs) and I can reach (54 kph/34mph). The board can carry me and a 45 pound backpack (106kg/135lbs) starting from a still position on a flat surface. I didn’t check the range, because I usually take 16km/10miles trips and I’ve never exhausted the battery in one go.
Originally, I was stuck between Meepo Hurricane and Tynee Explorer, but after reading comments online, I chose Tynee for better customer service (the pneumatic wheels were also a plus). A month and a half in, the front of the deck started to delaminate. So, I contacted Tynee support and in the same day, my new deck along with a grip tape and the proper insulation parts and screws for attaching the battery, were on their way and I only had to cover a $25 shipping cost. Because of that, if I ever get a mini eboard, it will be from Tynee and my friends have already heard about the positive experience.
I really like the quick release wheels, because now I don’t have to buy and carry an extra wheel. I simply carry a spare tube that came with the board and a small portable air compressor.
suggestions:
It would be better if the remote could handle higher voltages. It's great that it’s using USB-C, but most chargers and even power banks now use higher voltages, and if I have to carry a wall charger just for lower voltage, it defeats the purpose of USB-C compatibility.
More customization when buying the skateboard. I’m quite happy with the board, and I know the boards ship from California and the spare parts directly from China, but it would be better if we could also pick the accessories that come with the board when we are buying it. A remote cover, for example, is very good to have. When I fell, the cover saved my remote. A chunk of the cover was torn off, but the remote was completely intact.
TLDR:
I needed a transportation mode that I could carry inside with me everywhere,
didn’t want to worry about range, or stability at high speeds.
Picked the 175 mm pneumatic tires with a quick release mechanism.
haven’t tested the range, but haven’t had a problem in 15-mile trips.
With my weight of (86 kg/190lbs) at full battery, it goes (54 kph/34mph)
Between Meepo hurricane and Tynee explorer, I picked Tynee for better customer service.
The deck started to delaminate after a month and a half. contacted support, and the same they they sent me a new one, and I only covered the shipping.
happy with my choice of board and brand. esp. with support.
I recommend Tynee based on my experience

I bought a Stinger deck for a DIT project. The thing attired very quickly, and it came with griptape installed and a foam layer installed on the bottom for the battery and ESC enclosure. Excellent product and service

Came in perfect quality!

Really nice board with plenty of features. Customer service is also really great. My original board was ran over by a truck but fortunately, Aiden was really helpful in getting me back on the road. 10/10

The deck is absolutely fantastic! I can't express enough gratitude to the Tynee crew for their incredibly quick shipping. This deck features remarkable flexibility, making it exceptionally comfortable for those long rides or when navigating uneven terrain. It's truly a pleasure to ride, providing a smooth and enjoyable experience every time.

Much better than the gen 1 explorer deck. It has great bounce and not too much sag. I'm 230lbs with size 12 us feet and the new deck is just perfect.

Good deck and reasonably priced. I replaced my 1 year old deck due to delamination. I'm going this one will last longer.

I built my ultra x pro in parts bought from Tynee. They are fast to ship and so helpful.

I loveee it so much! I flip it countless times and rough with it no problems! Even ran it over with my car and only part of the deck broke and it was still riding fine lmao. It was well worth the $$ I call it a mini tank

I love it!

got hit by a truck and it smashed my board but all the components were fine. ordered a new board and the homies even shipped it very early to help me get it before my camping trip. easy as pie to just rehook up all the old components to the new deck.

Like always superb customer support. They send me a new deck because the original was having a problem. Shipping is slow but I live in hawaii and that is always a problem.
The new deck is 1 inch wider than the original and it looks FANTASTIC.

New and improved deck, perfect amount of flex for an electric carver!
